2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Do Not Lose Heart
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Peter 1:12-18
Our Bodies Are Like Tents
12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
Hebrews 9:14
The Eternal Holy Spirit
14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
Romans 8:14-17
Eternal Children of God Through the Spirit
14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
In the Trinity, God is three Divine Persons...These three Divine Persons are a mystery and a part of the Christian faith...They are Divine and they are eternal...God is the Father, Jesus is the Son of the Father, and He is the Holy Spirit that He sends to us...When the Holy Spirit of God lives in you, it is eternal...We are heirs and Sons of God...Through the blood of Jesus we are saved through the eternal Holy Spirit...The wages of sin is death, but we are cleansed from the sinning acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the Living God, our Living Father eternally...
St. Paul and St. Peter talk of aging...The body we live in is like a tent and wears out...Our bodies seem to get more fragile as we age...Our Father in heaven is not going to leave us and be absent from us as we age...Just because we have reached an elderly age and we live in this tattered tent He will not leave us...He is a God of Love...Our Father is a faithful God and He would not and will not leave His children with empty promises...St. Paul and St. Peter say these things to remind us of this very thing...There is an eternal glory waiting that Jesus Christ made clear to both these Great Saints...
These two Great Saints give us much hope as we age and stare and look into death...St. Paul had met Jesus after His death on the road to Damascus, and was with St. Paul ever since...St. Peter had the privilege to be one of Jesus' original Twelve Disciples and he knew Him both during His life and after His resurrection...St. Peter was impressed with the Transfiguration of Jesus on the Sacred Mountain and he got to hear His Father say, "This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I AM well pleased."...St. Peter, St. John, and St. James heard our Father say this on the Sacred Mountain...He will not leave us to die, and then just be absent...He is having His Son preparing us a room for us in His Great House, our Father's House...
