2 Peter 1:12-21
Eyewitnesses of Jesus' Majesty
12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
St. Peter wrote about Jesus and said the Disciples and others who heard and saw Him were eyewitnesses of His Majesty...The people who heard and saw Jesus know for a fact that He was a Real Person and a part of our history...
Different religions have some historical parts and elements and contain some truth parts, but Jesus' Religion of Christianity is different, when it is compared to the other religions...Author C. S. Lewis wrote "If you are a Christian you do not have to believe that all the other religions are simply wrong all through...If you are an atheist you do have to believe that the main point in all the religions of the whole world is simply one huge mistake...If you are a Christian, you are free to think that all these religions, even the queerest ones, contain at least some hint of the truth...When I was an atheist I had to try to persuade myself that most of the human race have always been wrong about the question that mattered to them most; when I became a Christian I was able to take a more liberal view...But, of course, being a Christian does mean thinking that where Christianity differs from other religions, Christianity is right and they are wrong...As in arithmetic—there is only one right answer to a sum, and all other answers are wrong: but some of the wrong answers are much nearer being right than others."...
Jesus being a Real Person and part of our history is a crucial part of Christianity...Jesus and His ministry and Him having twelve disciples really happened...The four gospels and the New Testament are dedicated to Him...
The other religions have some elements of truth but lack the One Person who called Himself Truth...The One Person God sent to earth to save us from our sins and be our Savior...Without Jesus, we would have no Savior or be saved and would die in our sins...There would be no salvation without Jesus...The atonement for our sins and bad behavior would be gone without the history of Jesus...And without Him there is no Heaven and death is our final act...
But we are taught and believe from history that death came through a man named Adam, but the resurrection of the dead comes also through a Man, named Jesus...For as in Adam all must die, but in Jesus we are will be made alive again after our earthly death...Everyone will be raised to life again and in the right order...Jesus was first to be raised...Then, when Jesus comes again, those who believe in him will be raised to life...Then the end of ages will come...Jesus will destroy all the non-believers, authorities, and powers...Then He will give the Kingdom to God the Father...Jesus must rule when God puts all enemies under His control...The last enemy that Jesus will destroy will be death...As the Scriptures say, “God put everything under His control.”...When it says that “everything” is put under Him, it is clear that this does not include God Himself...God is the one putting everything under Jesus' control...After everything has been put under Jesus, then the Son Himself will be put under God...God is the One who put everything under His Son...And Jesus will be put under God so that God will be the complete ruler over everything...
If there is no history of Jesus and was no Jesus, no one will ever be raised from death, then what will the people do who are baptized for those who have died?...If the dead are never raised, then why are people being baptized?...And what about those who have preached all there lives, have they lived a useless life?...If Jesus never lived and not a part of man's history then, “Let us eat and drink, because tomorrow we die.”...
So if there is no resurrection and was no history of Jesus their is no faith, and is no hope in the future...
