2 Timothy 3:12-17
Scripture is God Breathed
12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Peter 1:12-21
Inspired by God and His Son
12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
To believe in God and live a Godly life there are certain things that you have to believe...To have faith in God, you have to believe in some resources or people or books or something else to have your faith...Normally one's faith is based in the things they read...So you have to believe that what you read is true and is sacred and holy and true to have faith in God...Some people believe only in the Old Testament and that is all, while others believe in both the Old and New Testaments...And there are other religions that have other books and documents that they believe are sacred and holy and true...
If you follow Jesus, then you must believe He does fulfill the Old Testament Scripture...And you must believe that the entire Bible is a reliable source, both the Old and New Testaments...You must believe that the Bible is sacred and holy and true to believe in God...You must believe that all Scripture in the Bible is from God...Note I say from God...God chose not to write the Bible Himself...He would inspire men to write His Good Book...So you must believe in Moses, the Historical Books, the Wisdom Books, the Prophets, and the New Testament -all the Bible...You also must believe in Jesus, if you are a Christian, and those who wrote those books...All the Bible Books were inspirations from God, and not actually by Him...
Now when you believe in Jesus you may be persecuted, while those who oppose Him are trying to attack Him and His claims, and maybe even you (are attacked) because you believe in Him...But as one continues to believe by reading the Bible and the gospels, they continue in their learning and become convinced of what is written...Even though it is written by inspired men...They believe and know that the Scripture is Holy...The gospel can give one faith, when you believe in Jesus...When we read the Bible it is good to remember what Paul told Timothy...Paul said that all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work and be able to help others, the best that they can...God inspired each and every author...
Simon Peter was one of Jesus' Twelve Disciples...Peter believed in the Bible and was an eyewitness to Jesus...Peter said he did not follow cleverly devised or made up stories when he talked about the his LORD Jesus Christ...And Peter was an actual eyewitnesses of His Majesty, as were the other Disciples...Peter says that God the Father spoke on the sacred mountain and a voice came to Jesus from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is My Son, whom I LOVE; with Him I AM well pleased.”...Peter, John and James heard this voice that came from heaven when they were with Jesus on the sacred mountain...And from the Bible, we also have the prophetic message from the Prophets as something completely reliable, and we should and would do well to pay attention to the Bible, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts...For the Bible is a Light that shines in our hearts...Above all, we must understand that no prophecy of Scripture in the Bible came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things...For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit...Scripture and our Bible comes from God...
And if you believe Peter as he defended the Scriptures and gospel of Jesus, then you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Son of the Blessed One...Peter is part of the gospel story, and to me plays a big part of the Story of Jesus...Peter, an original Disciple, is one we can trust, because he was an eyewitness to Jesus for the three years of His ministry...Peter was inspired by God in what he wrote and spoke, as was Paul...
