Psalm 119:105
Your Word is My Lamp for My Life
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.
John 16:33
Troubles in Life
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Matthew 7:24-29
Storms in Life
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
1 Peter 2:3-11
Jesus Changed the World
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 40:29-31
Hope in the LORD
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Revelations 21:5
Becoming New and Renewed by Hope and Love (KJV)
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Jesus taught in a most unique way...His teachings still are around two thousand years after His death...And much of His teachings are not those of positive and rose-colored glasses type teachings...He told and teaches us like it is...He told His disciples and us front, we will have troubles, and we face trials and have grief in our lives...But, if we build our foundation in this life with faith and belief and trust in Him, we will weather these storms, and these troubles in this life...This foundation of faith, belief, and trust in Him will weather every storm that tests us...We may grow tired and weary in our troubles times, but when we remember He has overcome this world -we are given a great and precious hope...When we hope in the LORD we get through our trials...With His teachings about faith, hope, and love -we learn that those three virtues are as important as knowledge and wisdom...We learn from Him about Truth, and that He is the ultimate Truth in life and the universe...He and His words are the foundation in the life we have and follow on earth, when we believe in Him...And when we hope in the LORD, it is not something empty, it is something we can hold onto...When we hope in Him, He brings us strength, and renews our strength...
St. Peter was a student of Jesus...He learned his lessons well...St. Peter learned from His Teacher, that Jesus had a divine power and He has given us these great and precious promises...These are the precious promises of hope, which we need in life...Because of Jesus and this hope He brings, we should add to our faith, goodness; and add to our goodness, knowledge; and add to our knowledge, self control; and add to our self control, perseverance; and add to our perseverance Godliness, and add to our Godliness, mutual affection, and to our mutual affection Love...For when we possess these qualities in our lives in an increasing way and measure, then we will understand better that faith, hope, and this Love are the foundation that He teaches us....
St. Peter says that if we love and possess these qualities which are all about love, we will not stumble in the path of life, but we will find the eternal kingdom of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ...His Words are the Light of this world and the path for our feet in our everyday lives...
C. S. Lewis said we are to become "little Christs" when we believe in Jesus...Lewis put it this way: “Now the whole offer which Christianity makes is this: that we can, if we let God have His way, come to share in the life of Christ...If we do, we shall then be sharing a life which was begotten, not made, which always existed and always will exist...Christ is the Son of God...If we share in this kind of life we also shall be sons of God...We shall love the Father as He does and the Holy Ghost will arise in us...He came to this world and became a man in order to spread to other men the kind of life He has — by what I call "good infection."...Every Christian is to become a little Christ...The whole purpose of becoming a Christian is simply nothing else.”...
When we Love and Love the way that He teaches, we become more like Him...We become better than we are...The people around us become better than they are...All the other things around us, also become better...His Words and His Love makes all things new and all things better...
