Young Leader Scheme

A young person aged 14 to 18 is allowed to help out at Beavers, Cubs or Scouts as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme with their school or as part of their Explorer Belt and they are known as Young Leaders (YLs).

1. Section Leader obtains permission from the 1st Harpenden Group Scout Leader, Andy Wrentmore (andywrentmore@gmail.com).

2. Section Leader informs Liz Jack (lizjack00@hotmail.com) who runs the Young Leader scheme in Harpenden.
   
   

3. Liz Jack makes sure the YL joins the Scout Association at the District level as an Explorer Scout for insurance purposes.  

4. Liz Jack asks the YL to complete two elearning training modules
   
   

5. Section Leader runs an Induction Meeting with YL and their parents/guardians/carers
   
   

6. Section Leader adds YL personal details into OSM, for Lodge/Six/Patrol select Young Leaders (YLs).  Follow the instructions here so that the new member receives a welcome email.
   
   

7. YL starts helping out
