It’s been a busy and positive year for our Beaver Colony.
We currently have 26 Beavers in the group. At the end of 2024, we were running with just two leaders, which made things quite challenging. At the start of 2025, we introduced a parent rota to help keep the section going. The parents really stepped up, they were fantastic and made a big difference. Thanks to that support, we’ve now been able to welcome five new leaders, who have been amazing. It’s great to have a strong team again.
Badges and Awards
Our Beavers have been hard at work and achieved:
7 Chief Scout Bronze Awards
44 Challenge Awards
147 Activity Badges
78 Staged Badges
We’ve covered a variety of badge themes including Air Activities, Safety, Money Skills, Gardener, Cook and Health & Fitness. This term, we’ve had a special focus on the Outdoor Challenge, Camp Craft, and Nature-themed activities.
Events and Activities
The colony has taken part in a fantastic range of activities, including:
County Beaver Day at Hever Castle – very wet, but very fun!
District Beavers Pantomime Trip
County Adventure Day at Lower Grange Farm – lots of new experiences and challenges
“Under the Sea” Fundraising Fun Activity Day – raising funds for KIJ
Visit to the local fire station
1st Cheriton Group Rounders at the Park – bringing together all sections
Water-themed Fun Night - a Beaver favourite!
Looking Ahead
We’re already planning a full and exciting programme for the rest of 2025. Upcoming events include:
Howletts Zoo Trip in September
Drive-In Style Movie Afternoon in October
A potential Autumn Sleepover during October half term
District Beavers Pantomime Trip in December
And more District and County Beaver events already being planned for early 2026
Thanks and Acknowledgments
A huge thank you to our amazing team of leaders, Shane, Karen, Kathryn, Caroline, Sarah and Miriana for their enthusiasm, time, and commitment throughout the year. Your energy has been key to keeping the colony running smoothly.
We’re also incredibly grateful for the continued support from Paul, our Scout Section Leader, who regularly joins us on trips and helps lead exciting activities like axe throwing and firelighting, always a hit with the Beavers!
A big shout-out to our young helpers, Charlotte, Koby, Louie, and Romain, who have been fantastic role models and extra pairs of hands.
Finally, thank you to all the parents who’ve supported us, whether through the rota or by lending a hand at events. Your help has truly made a difference and keeps our section thriving.
With a growing leadership team and enthusiastic Beavers, we’re excited for the future. We look forward to continuing to provide a fun, safe, and rewarding environment where our Beavers can learn new skills, make friends, and create great memories.
