Chapter 11:
Chapter eleven reviews Julia's and Winston's affairs across the next few months. Both show their distaste with the party. This show especially with the anti-sex league as Julia states it is a hypocritical and a restricting group. Winston talks about his broken marriage and his experiences with sexual relations. As well as his opportunity that he had to kill his wife. Both reflect on their actions and Winston ends their discussion by stating that soon they will be killed for both their crimes.
Chapter 12:
In chapter twelve Winston and Julia agree to meet in Mr. Charrington's extra room. When arriving Julia comes with various contraband to show Winston. She presents him with makeup on her face as well as luxury food to share. Both share an intimate moment and then reflect and sit in the silence of the older room. To Winston's surprise she shares another large part of the Clementines and orange rhyme. As she leaves he thinks about the past and what it could have been like.
Chapter 13:
The preparations for hate week as well as Winston’s affairs continue throughout chapter thirteen. Both Winston and Julia find peace with each other and make fantasies of rebelling against the party. The contrast between them grows as Wilson talks about seeking the truth and Julia sees no point as the past has already been altered to the party's image.
