Visa appointment date may be up to six months before the visa start date
The focus of this website is travel to France by UK citizens for long periods where the Schengen 90/180 day rule and use of a visa requires consideration. It is an information site; it is not a campaign site. It complements the 180 days in France Facebook page.
There is a sister site 180daysvisafree which has the extensive work done by the 180days team in 2020. It has very occasional updates related to pan-EU travel.
One of our team has started a campaign Facebook page France Visa Free. There is more detail here
There are also independent Facebook pages for other EU countries with the common aim of achieving better access to EU countries for UK citizens. There is more information in Q&A here.
The Key Facts page provides an overview of the information needed when planning your trip to France. It is a good starting point for those who have limited knowledge about the VSL-T visa.
The VLS-T pages provides detail of how to apply for a VLS-T visa and about preparing for the appointment.
If you just want the crib-sheets then click for Part 1 and for Part 2.
The Visa Appointment pages give practical information about the appointment itself. Much of it is based on feedback from those who have had an appointment.
The Douane section sets out the rules that apply to ANYONE entering France from the UK. A couple of caveats
a) the pages were written in summer 2021 and so may not reflect 2023.
b) though the rules may not always be applied in practice note that they could be applied rigorously from time to time.
