An overall view of the pedestrianised square where TLS appear to have a range of premises on both sides.
The appointments entrance is on the far left. It had a queue when the photograph was taken
There are several small offices on the other side of the square for passport collection each with its sign for passport return. This is the one used by the photographer
The London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is just to the north of the office which is a constraining factor. See the interactive map for details of traffic Congestion Charge and ULEZ zones in London.
On street parking is difficult and TLS is near a red route!
For many people public transport may be the best option for the last leg to TLS.
You have many choices for public transport within London. Travel by: Overground; Bus or Tube. You can mix modes on a single journey. To find your route option use Google Maps with travel by public transport or use City Mapper
Use credit card / debit card / mobile device card to pay for travel.
Always use the same method in a single journey otherwise you will be charged the maximum daily amount for the trip.
Don’t forget to tap out at the end of your journey or you will be charged the daily price cap for that journey
If you use the same payment method for the whole day then will not pay more than the daily price cap
You can find available parking and book in advance by using a Parking App such as Just Park
There is a multi storey car park attached to the shopping mall across the road from TLS. The car park is Wandsworth Southside 2, Buckhold Road, London. In March 2023 it was reported to be pay on exit so avoids the risk of overstay
Take care if parking at the nearby Sainsburys, a delay at TLS may mean you exceed the time limit and incur a parking charge of £80 or more. A longer stay can be booked via Just Park
Last updated 08/03/2022It was reported in February 2022 that the gate- keepers at the TLS London office are checking to see that you have proof of an appointment that day.
Be prepared for this and have it to hand.
As of 06/02 it is unclear whether this must be in hard-copy form or can be viewed from your phone.
The visa centre processes a large number of visas per day
Expect queues and possible delays, 4 to 5 hours end to end have been reported
Food and drink are not permitted in the building
You stand as they review the documents, people report that there is not much space
If you have to get your photos retaken this can add a long time to your day
Queue outside until appointment time, there is no shelter provided (see photo above)
At your appointment time you go through airport style checks, no food or drink are permitted beyond this point
Queue for vetting
Vetting: passport and appointment verified. You are given an appointment number for the next stage (document check)
Queue for document check. There have been many reports of a long wait at this point.
Document check: you may be asked to sign a document specific to second home owners. At the end you are usually given a document showing that documents have been checked.
Queue for biometrics:
Biometrics: your photographs are verified against the requirements; fingerprints are taken
Receive a confirmation email that your documents have been passed to the Consulate (the Consulate makes the visa decision).
It is really important that you check that you get your email as it contains important information; follow up with TLS if it is not received.
