Visa appointment date may be up to six months before the visa start date
In late 2024 and 2025 there were many instances of VLS-T applications being rejected for people who were not second home owners or boat owners. This page provides some suggestions on minimising the chance of rejection. It is based on information provided by rejected applicants.
The reason for rejection was often insufficient detail about the itinerary. It is recommended that you consult Facebook page Motorhoming in Europe post Brexit for more detail.
This group of applicants appear to be the most likely to be turned down.
If you need a visa on compassionate grounds they make this abundantly clear and explain why you are the person who needs to support the vulnerable person.
If you are going for a long period with a specific purpose then provide detail and make it clear that you will return to the UK at the end of the visa
If you are going for a long period with NO specific purpose then explain why you need six months and why it cannot be done in 90 days
If you are going to join a family member/friend/partner then the Consulate may be concerned that you will remain in France at the end of the visa. You should consider how to assuage that concern
Before submitting the description of your project read it through the eyes of a skeptical border official. If the reasoning appears weak then it best to sort it out before applying.
