VLS-T applications made by residents from the Baliwicks of Jersey and Guernsey must satisfy the same criteria as laid down for UK nationals. This includes the need to attend an appointment in person at a TLS office in London, Manchester or Edinburgh.
There are differences in the supporting evidence concerning State Pensions and Health Insurance.
Note that residents of Jersey and Guernsey are not permitted to present a UK issued EHIC or GHIC card as part of the visa application even if they have previously lived in the UK and/or made NI contributions in the past.
The Government of Jersey provides an annual letter detailing the pension paid for the previous year and the pension that is to be paid in the following year.
There is a medical agreement between Jersey and France.
Residents of the Baliwicks of Jersey should provide an official up-to-date attestation referring to the bilateral medical agreement between Jersey and France. This may be found on the gov.je website.
Residents of the Baliwicks of Guernsey may request a state pension statement by phone or email at any time from the States of Guernsey.
There is NO medical agreement between Guernsey and France.
Residents of the Baliwicks of Guernsey must therefore provide evidence of Private Health Insurance (PHI) for the period of the Visa. The PHI cover is the same as is required for a VLS-TS visa.
