Hack worked in Florence and then on the Merate site of the Brera Astronomical Observatory in the outskirts of Milan (1954-64). Later she became a professor at the University of Trieste (1964-98) and served (1964-87) as director of the observatory in Trieste, the first woman in Italy to hold such a position. Under er direction, the observatory in Trieste became one of the most important research centers in Italy.
She wrote more than 200 scientific articles throughout her career and more than 24,000 books which after her loss were left to the library of the city of Trieste and also frequently appeared on television to explain the new discoveries in astronomy and physics. She received several awards for his research

Throughout her life she popularized scientific concepts as a writer and television personality and studied the stars analyzing the different types of radiation they emitted, while defending for civil rights and at the same time criticizing the influence of religion.
Finally,she died the 29th of June, 2013 in the Italian city of Trieste
Throughout her life he had a great interest in exploring the stars. He was a member of the working group of the European Agency and also worked with NASA and collaborated with the prestigious universities of Berkeley and Princeton for decades. Hack studied the stars analyzing the different types of radiation emitted by his great work to science the asteroid 8558 Hack, discovered in 1995, is named after her.
