Hedwing Eva María Kiesler (Hedy Lamarr) was born on November 9, 1914 in Vienna, Austria, and she died on January 9, 2000 in Florida.
Since she was a child she stood out because of her intelligence and she was considerated exceptional. She started her engineering studies when she was 16, but 3 years later she started with her first film.
When she was 18, she married with an important Austrian businessman in the armament market, who had a lot of important contacts in the Nazi Party (he was a fascist). During 4 years Lamarr went with him as his companion to many reunions and dinners and she learnt a lot about weapons and technology. At the same time she was shut away in her own house because of his husband, so one day she decided that she was done and she dressed up as her maid, she broke up from that nightmare and she went to Paris. There she met the President of the Metro Goidwyn-Mayer, who offered her an agreement of 7 years in Hollywood. Once in Hollywood, she officially changed her name to Hedy Lamarr. But her work as an actress finished rapidly and she decided to develop her interest in sciences.
She patented an idea that later became the crutch of both secure military communication and mobile phone technology. IN 1942 Hedy Lamarr and George Antheil patented what they called "The Secret Communication System". The original idea meant to solve the problem of enemies blocking signals from radio-controlled missiles during World War II. Hedy's idea was very important to both the military and the cell phone industry. She's one of the most interesting and intelligent woman in the movie industry.
Finally, it didn't use in the World War II, but in 1962 in EEUU, the army used it during the Missile Crisis in Cuba. Lamarr developed other inventions: Anew improved version of Traffic Lights and A Pill to create a fizzy drink.
Thanks of her innovation invention she makes the bases to make easier our lives in the digital technologies.
