Audio & Video Streaming
There are alternative resources available, such as YouTube and our VUSD Plex Server.
VUSD Streaming
To ensure a smooth and efficient use of our school’s network, streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and similar platforms are not allowed on the school network. it's essential that we use our network wisely to maintain a reliable internet connection for all students and staff.
The primary reasons for this decision are:
Bandwidth Consumption: Streaming video content consumes a significant amount of bandwidth. This heavy usage can lead to network congestion, slowing down the internet for everyone.
Network Stability: Excessive streaming can cause the network to bottleneck or even crash, disrupting online learning and administrative functions.
Educational Priorities: Our network resources need to be prioritized for educational purposes, including online learning platforms, research, and communication tools.
Looking for videos required for your curriculum?
The Vacaville Unified School District houses its own Plex Video Server. This video server is filled with videos needed for curriculum requirements. For more information about Plex, click here.
We understand that video content can be a valuable educational resource. Therefore, if you need to use specific videos for instructional purposes, please consider downloading them in advance and using them offline during your lessons. Alternatively, educational video platforms like YouTube and our VUSD Plex Server can be used, as these services are optimized for educational use and have less impact on bandwidth.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a stable and efficient network for everyone. Any questions, comments or concerns regarding the district network and district networking policies, please reach out to the Vacaville Unified School District's Network Infrastructure and Operations Manager, Brandon Salinas.

Other Alternatives
Nearly every school Desktop PC across VUSD comes with a CD/DVD drive. This is a simple alternative if you have a DVD of your own that you would like to show in your classroom.
Many laptops, unfortunately, are forgoing the CD/DVD drive to help make them super thin. If you want to play a DVD using a laptop, you will need to purchase a USB CD/DVD drive.
