Classroom Technology

The Vacaville Unified School District provides all staff with some form of technology to assist in their daily tasks. The kind of technology provided varies across VUSD as it depends on job title, department, location, and more. But here are some of the basics to give you a better understanding of what the Technology Department provides in the classroom.

Basic Technology Provided In The Classroom

Windows Desktop Computer

NOTE: Some school sites are known to provide staff with their own set of district laptops. Should you receive a laptop from your site, but would also like to have a district desktop in your classroom, you can Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.

Wired Keyboard & Mouse

NOTE: We keep a supply of basic, wired, keyboard and mice. If you wish for a wireless keyboard and mouse, you will need to request a purchase for one from your site administration.

If you require an ergonomic accommodation, please contact the Human Resources Department.

Monitor

NOTE: Our department is able to provide at least one monitor per classroom. Requests for a second monitor can be made as long as our department has the supply to do so. (Please be aware that second monitors may not match your primary monitor in size or resolution.)

*If we do not have the supply to accommodate you for a second monitor, you will need to request a purchase for one from your site administration.

Document Camera

NOTE: These devices are plug and play, using just one single USB cable for power and display. Just plug it into your computer, open up the HoverCam Flex 11 app on your desktop, and you're ready to share! If you are having any trouble with your Doc Cam or the Flex 11 app, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.

Black & White Printer

NOTE: Ink/toner and replacement ink cartridges for classroom printers are available at your school site's front office. If you have trouble swapping out ink on your own, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.

Mitel VOIP Telephone

NOTE: If you run into any kind of trouble with your classroom phone, or if you need your voicemail password reset, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.

Chromebook Charging Cart

NOTE: Charging carts vary across the district. There are some models that will allow all Chromebooks to charge at once. Newer models, however, have a primary eco-friendly mode where it only charges sections at a time. If you have questions about your charging cart, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.

Class Set of Chromebooks

NOTE: How many Google Chromebooks your classroom receives is dependent on your total class size. If you find that you do not have enough Chromebooks for your classroom, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.

Epson Projector with Front Row Control Panel and In-Ceiling Speakers

NOTE: Nearly all of our classrooms across the school district have a Short Throw Epson Projector, complete with a Front Row Touch Control Panel for volume and source inputs, and a pair in-ceiling speakers. For more information regarding classroom projectors, please visit the Technology Projector Page here.
