Projector HDMI + USB Connection
HDMI - High Definition Multimedia Interface
HDMI cables are a standard video/audio cable all wrapped up into one. They are used on HD Televisions, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles like Xbox and Playstation, as well as computers, monitors, projectors and more.
When you plug an HDMI cable from your computer to the Front Row wall plate, you can display your PC using the projector, as well as listen to your computer audio through the in-ceiling speakers.
USB A/B - Universal Serial Bus
The purpose of the USB A/B cable is to give you touch functionality from your computer to the projector. This will allow you to control your computer using the projector pens (or your finger) as a mouse on the whiteboard.
What you should know
Best case scenario, you'll want to make sure your desk is next to (or close enough to) both an Ethernet port wall plate (for direct internet access) and the HDMI wall plate that connects to the classroom projector (to display your PC to the projector). Because the standard cable length is roughly six feet, placing your equipment next to these ports will ensure a simple and easy, plug-and-play method, that will give the best and fastest video and internet connections for your computer.
If you have a preference to have your desk and computer located further away from these wall plates, you have two options to connect to the projector.
Have your department or site administration order you longer cables.
Also have them order cable protectors to ensure these cables do not become a tripping hazard.
Or you can ditch the cables entirely and use the Epson iProjection app instead.
