CPDR Paper Drop from the Shafi Lab: September 13, 2024

CPDR's Dr. Ayesha Shafi and team publish their findings on AR coactivators, CBP/p300, are critical mediators of DNA repair in prostate cancer in Oncogene. This study was led by Shafi lab post-bac, Sumaria Sardar, and in collaboration with several experts in the field.

PCF Annual Meeting

Dr. Ayesha Shafi presents at a panel discussion on "What about being a public servant? Careers in government science" at the 30th annual Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) Young Investigator (YI) Forum. Along side NCI colleagues Drs. James Gully and Fatima Karzai.

Dr. Shafi and the PCF WIS Forum Organizing Committee present the key note speaker with her award.

AACR 2024

The Shafi Lab and additional members of CPDR attend the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. The team presented their work at poster sessions, networks, and enjoys a delicious dessert with fellow scientists and clinicians.

In this episode, Dr. Shafi shares the genesis of her own peer mentoring journey and how her network has grown into a powerful community of support. She, along with her colleague and former Faculty Factory Podcast guest, Dr. Sarah Amend, recognized the importance of mentorship from both traditional and peer perspectives.

Together, they developed a program that fosters an environment of trust, open communication, and tailored guidance that enables participants to navigate the challenges of academia and research effectively.
