Enroll patients with prostatic diseases into CPDR cohort studies to study risk factors and outcomes related to prostate cancer
Capture high-quality, longitudinal clinical, pathologic, and follow-up data as part of routine data collection activities
Conduct original epidemiologic research related to prostate cancer etiology, treatment, and outcomes
Assess the health-related quality-of-life of patients along the continuum of prostate disease care
Serve as a critical link in support of basic science and clinical research, facilitating translational research
Provide research training and education opportunities to US military medical residents and students
Manage large, complex data resources for high-quality epidemiologic research
Unique attributes of the database include:
1) a study population comprised primarily of military health care beneficiaries with comparable access to health care and uniformity in PSA screening and treatment guidelines
2) a proportional representation of our US military service members, allowing for in-depth examination of the impact on prostate cancer outcomes
3) abundant clinical data necessary to calculate risk factors for disease development and progression
4) robust, long term data on health-related quality-of-life outcomes during the period of cancer survivorship
