The Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) conducts state of the the art clinical, epidemiologic, basic science and translational research with an emphasis on precision medicine to combat diseases of the prostate and prostate cancer in the US military healthcare system. We integrate basic and clinical science studies to improve early detection, prognostic factors and develop potential treatments for prostate disease to improve the readiness of active-duty personnel in conjunction with the continuum of medical care.
CPDR will focus on the natural history of prostate disease, outcomes research, as well as behavioral, psychosocial and quality-of-life issues as they relate to prostate disease. It will also provide for training in molecular biology and clinical research for physicians, scientists, and medical and graduate students.
Active duty military and readiness of servicemen at risk for, or affected by, prostate cancer
Explore impacts of environmental exposures and distributed force health protection settings
Develop and improve the performance and reliability of screening, diagnostic approaches, companion biomarkers, and assays focused on men within the ethnically diverse active duty population
Improve Readiness by expanding across the DoD our program of early disease detection through screening; inform surveillance programs with expanded genetic screening strategies
Make available effective precision treatments, interventions and companion assays to improve health, cancer control, survivorship, and outcomes to enhance Return To Duty of active duty service members afflicted with the prostate cancer in the DoD
