Dr. Cara Schafer joined CPDR in 2016 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. She has been involved in numerous CPDR projects over the years, including research to decipher proteogenomic drivers in prostate cancer at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She has a keen interest in prostate cancer immuno-oncology, especially in uncovering immune biomarkers and spatiotemporal immunogenomic relationships in the tumor microenvironment.
Dr. Schafer successfully completed a CDMRP Fellowship in prostate cancer. As a new PI, she is intent on improving the human condition throughout the prostate cancer diagnosis timeline. Prior to joining CPDR, she earned her B.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), M.S. from Georgetown University, and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
