Emoji Activity
Creative Check-in: HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
MIMICRY. Participants are asked to copy the six emojis of Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Surprise using their face and their hands.
EMOTIONS of LIFE. Participants are given phrases and sentences (e.g. Sa aming bahay... Ngayong pandemya, ako ay... ) as stimulus. They may show emotional state in response to the stimulus by embodying the emoji. As a follow up exercise, the participants may also list down recent experiences and situations where they felt these six emotions.
PROCESSING. Participants may be divided into small sub-groups to share their feelings or the facilitator may ask for volunteers to share "How are you today?"
Check-ins are important in order to know the present emotional state of the learner. If the learner is emotionally ready - optimum learning may take place. Through a simple and fun exercise, we may also identify learners who might need a follow up. A portion of this exercise may be integrated as part of the session routine.
It is important to make the learning environment a safe-place where they may process their emotions and real life experiences in connection to their classroom lessons.
