The Course is divided into three learning units namely:
I. The Creative Teacher
II. PETA's Creative Pedagogy
III. Integration & Application
The Creative Teacher
This Section begins with the teacher's journey of being able to position oneself in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic to fully understand the context and how it has ushered a new era of global disruptions that forced everyone to face and embrace the pivotal challenges of the "new normal". Through creative visualisation and community mapping, the teachers are able to identify context-based challenges in the education system and the key areas of change needed in their teaching practice in order to navigate and explore different ways and strategies to deliver meaningful learning to their students despite the limitations. A self-appraisal was necessary to identify competencies needed to achieve the desired goals and changes they want to achieve. The challenge of creativity and critical thinking skills were raised as necessary ingredients for innovative schooling under the "new normal". The Context, The Teacher-Explorer, The Key Areas of Change. These are three major areas that were explored in raising the challenge of building a community of teachers as change leaders using the TPACK Model as jumping board.
PETA'S Creative Pedagogy
This Section captured PETA's educational theater work encapsulated in a pedagogy that is rooted in its 53 years of work in performance-making, applied theater & community partnerships. PETA's Creative Pedagogy is a grounded theory which adheres to learning philosophies and principles that are transformative in nature. Its unique methodology, the integrated theater arts, is considered the spine of its pedagogical praxis. It asserts the power of theater as a tool to deliver learning and content in a transformative manner. This Section also examines how the PETA pedagogy can be integrated and used for teaching K-12 subject areas to achieve most essential learning competencies (MELCs) in a blended learning environment.
Integration and Application
This Section is the application of all learnings in the full five-day Course. This is where teachers are asked to integrate PETA's learning philosophy in their teaching practice through clear articulation of their individual teaching statement as Creative Teacher-Explorer.
Teachers were also grouped according to specific area of interest and creative strategy to integrate and apply the PETA Pedagogy in their lessons or modules through a Group Integration Project. Peer Feedback was used to evaluate and appraise the group projects.
