send a check-in email
example :
in the subject line: check-in for PubSpeak on Monday, Sept. 14
in the body: say hi, hello, good afternoon, etc.
send emails w/in the first 5-minutes of class start time
5th block: 2:07-2:12
4th block: 12:50-12:55
if I do not reply back, go ahead & start coursework for the day
if required in Zoom, show-up & participate & be on time
even if you are required in Zoom, send the check-in email
Zoom link is in Google Classroom when required
see assignment calendar and/or chart for what was due today
also access the assignments in Daily Dose found in Google Classroom
do work during class time
if you have questions & are not in Zoom, email me or enter the Zoom if the question is a pressing one because I probably won't be checking my email during class time while people are performing a speech
when speaker is done performing, unmute & politely interrupt
it is not required unless specifically listed on the Daily Dose plans for the day
if in Zoom, you'll leave the meeting when dismissed; that's your checkout
if not in Zoom, send a checkout email
example:
in the subject line: checkout for PubSpeak on Monday, Sept. 14
in the body: tell me what you got done today
checkout emails are to be sent near the end of class time & not earlier
5th block: 3:10
4th block: 1:50
You will still do 1 - 2 - 3 above.
You will mostly likely be told to Zoom on some of the speech-giving days.
Zoom on other days? That depends. I will communicate with you.
Regardless of if you Zoom in or not, as a remote learner, you must send the check-in email to me each day. This is my attendance proof.
What do you do if you are not required to Zoom with us? You'll do the work and most likely get video assignments and you can learn asynchronously.
The deadlines for all course work are the same for you as if you were in the school building.
since we have a large class of 19 in FALL 2020, performing speeches online may be more time consuming than in person--especially if we perform live or listen to uploaded videos
there may be technical difficulties, which are time consuming
so because of that possibility, I may have groups of you attend in Zoom on one day while the rest of the class works independently or view them and critiques them
then the next day it would be visa versa
it provides you work time since performing speeches online may be more time consuming than in person
it also keeps Zoom meetings to a smaller size of people & allows for better interactions with smaller groups
you still have to attend class, so to speak, though by checking in with me VIA email; this is how I take attendance
you will have to do coursework during your block's class time
you will still have to send a checkout email
this will vary depending on the length of the speech
possible options:
live performances
pre-recorded & uploaded to Google Drive shared folder
