Find political cartoons.
Each team will find 2 different cartoons, one per person.
Topic options:
Political or current event.
For political, find items critical of one of the major parties: Democrat, Green, Independent, Republican
If choosing a political topic, both sides of the issue must be presented.
If choosing a current event/scandal, find two cartoons with each one representing a different viewpoint.
Once chosen, type the topic on the class topic choices chart to avoid duplication. See link on the webpage: click here.
Presentation
Each team member will present one of the cartoons.
Put each cartoon on a separate slide. Enlarge for presentation. Cite the source; that's the only text on the slide.
The team must present in a balanced manner with all members speaking and interacting. See Part III on the handout.
Answer the questions on the handout by researching the background and the innuendos present in the cartoon.
You’ll need to explain everything shown in the cartoon and describe the artist’s portrayal of it.
the audience will be asking questions if there are items in the cartoon that they think you've missed, so prepare well
see the separate rubric for how this will be evaluated
