this is an ongoing semester project
analyze a conversation using the concepts of effective listening
pick a conversation that you are NOT involved in
if a video, it should be at least 3-minutes in length otherwise it is too short to analyze
refer to the examples often
refer often to the types of listening bulleted list at the top of the this webpage

if class time given, it's due by end of block unless stated otherwise
if it is homework w/ no class time given, it may be turned in at the start of the week it is due, but no earlier than that
it will not be accepted late
oral reminders do not usually occur
remember, if a digital turn in, the procedure must be followed; see heading below
Writing skills with complete sentences, correct spelling and grammar are expected.Â
Just like other non-speech coursework, it is 20% of the overall grade for the course.
Email reminders will not be sent.
These entries are not accepted late, so if it is not done and in by the due date and time with the procedure followed, a zero will be earned for that entry.
This project may be modified as the semester progresses.

turn-in place: the public speaking tub on shelves on west side of classroom - see top shelf (if you can't reach it, get assistance)
forms: the green paper/pencil forms for the listening journals are found under the AR bookmark tub on the west side of the classroom; if you don't see any, let the teacher know
listening journal form: click here
do file/make a copy & put it in our shared GDrive folder & type your answers
name the document for easy finding by the teacher - see below
listening journal #1_your last name
complete the assignment digitally; the font will type as blue, so keep it that way
email the teacher with the subject line "listening journal #___ is done & in our shared folder"
that email is due on the due date by the given due time
beware: do not click the share button on the document because it is already shared with the teacher if it is in that folder
