When students submit their college and financial aid applications, or are accepted to a school, you should collect their confirmations whenever possible.
Financial Aid Confirmations
- Confirmation Page: When a students submits their FAFSA, they will see a confirmation screen. You can save this confirmation as a PDF by selecting 'File' > 'Print', and changing the printer destination to 'Save as PDF'.
- Confirmation Email: Students will also receive two confirmation emails, one when their FAFSA is received and one when their FAFSA has been processed. You can have students forward these confirmations to your email or an email that you've set up solely for confirmations (there will be a lot!)
College Application/Acceptance Confirmations
- Collecting Confirmations by Email: Have students forward their confirmations to you or an email that you've set up for confirmation.
- Collecting Confirmations in a Survey: You can use a Google form or Qualtrics survey to collect your students' confirmations. Using a survey makes it easier to download the files onto your computer rather than saving each email that you receive as a PDF. Students would have to download their confirmation first in order to upload it. The easiest way to do this would be to have students take a screenshot of the email on their phone, or save the email as a PDF if they're on a computer.
- Decision Day RSVPs: One strategy to increase the number of confirmations you collect is to require students to send them to you in order to RSVP for Decision Day.
