In order to confirm intent to enroll in a 4-year school, students must submit a SIR, which can be done through the portal of their school of choice.
Once logged in, the student should click “Submit Statement of Intent to Register,” usually within the application status or enrollment information tab of the portal.
An enrollment confirmation deposit is required in order to hold their spot at a school, but some students may have their deposit fee waived based on EFC.
Some SIR fees might include deposit and orientation fee, while others may not. Check with the school.
SIR must be submitted by May 1st.
After submitting their SIR, students should sign up for orientation. There are usually major or college specific orientations for a particular school. The student will need to choose the date(s) they would like to attend and will have to pay the orientation fee, which can be done from the student portal. There is usually a deadline to do so (ex. June 1st), but check with the particular school.
Depending on the school, some orientation programs are only one day, while others may be two or three days, requiring the student to stay overnight. Parents are also given the option of attending the orientation program at some schools.

Note that some of these programs may offer financial aid, but the student will need to complete a financial aid application for the current school year. The financial aid application they submitted by March 2nd only makes them qualified for aid in the upcoming school year.
