Maria Montessori once said, "It is our obligation to the child: to give him a ray of light and to follow our path." This is the best definition of an educator, our job as educators is to be a guide in the lives of our students while they are in our hands, but without yet we must be ready to let them keep learning when the time comes. Not all the responsibility for their learning falls completely on our shoulders since both at home and society itself are contributing, either directly or indirectly. However, being an educator carries a great responsibility, since, according to María Montessori, we are the companions of the children in this process. This can also have various implications in our lives, both positive and negative, because each of our actions will always be in the eyes of others, but above all they will be in the eyes of our students. So, we must be very meticulous when acting and the decisions we make in the different tests that life will put us through.
We should aspire to be good educators, but a good educator is one who can adapt to the type of teaching that benefits the child. This is because it is more than proven that we do not all learn in the same way and have different skills and abilities, so we must find a way to provide teaching in an equitable way for all. ero pFor this, my partner and I consider that a different type of education is necessary than the one we have today. An education that gives them confidence and that spark that many have yet to find to be motivated to truly learn. Let it be varied and know how to handle the different types of intelligence that both young people and children have. If we analyze well the education offered in the schools of our country today, they leave much to be desired and there are very few good academic experiences that students remember. While they mostly remember good times with their peers as meaningful, experiences with teachers leave much to be desired in most cases.
In our case, we had teachers who were a key piece in our lives, which is why we are here today. Teachers and teachers that if it had not been for their guidance and commitment to us we would be different people. We all remember that person well that when one needed him, he was there to provide the necessary help, and this is what is sought as an educator. Not only educating and that they later remind us with nostalgia for how good we have been doing our work, but also that these, when remembering it, reflect and look for a way to continue happening is a small empathic difference that is so much needed.
Being an educator in these times is a very difficult task, but it is not impossible since if we commit ourselves from now to making a change, it will be possible sooner or later. Education, the knowledge that we acquire, is the most powerful weapon a person can have, and it is part of our task as educators to transmit it in the right way. That is why that to be a good educator must have specific features not s help, this work. We must be full of patience, dedication, empathy, charisma, spontaneity, respect, but more than anything, we must have passion. A passion that is what motivates us to continue day by day committed to the profession we choose, the teaching profession.
