“Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.”
— Robin Sharma.
Professional and personal development and performance:
The student teacher reflects on his or her professional responsibilities, evaluates the effect of his or her decisions and actions on other members of the school community (students, parents, administrators, other educational professionals) and the broader community, and actively seeks professional growth.
During my teaching practice, I constantly reflected on my professional responsibilities, evaluating the impact of my decisions and actions on both my students and other members of the school community. I recognized that, as a future educator, my role extends beyond teaching content; I must also be a role model, an emotional support, and a facilitator of a healthy learning environment for all.
To ensure that my decisions were always the best ones, I actively sought professional growth. I became certified in both CPR and first aid, understanding that it is essential to be prepared for any emergency that may arise in the school setting. These certifications not only provided me with the necessary tools to handle emergencies but also allowed me to convey greater confidence to my students and colleagues, knowing I could respond effectively in critical situations.
Additionally, I took a self-care workshop, as I am aware of the importance of caring for my physical and emotional well-being in order to give my best as an educator. This workshop helped me understand the relevance of setting healthy boundaries and maintaining a balance between my personal and professional life. Applying these principles allowed me to perform my duties better and maintain a positive and effective attitude in the classroom.
These actions reflect my commitment to both professional and personal development. By reflecting on my practices and striving to improve, I was able to offer a safer, more empathetic, and efficient environment for all members of the school community, ensuring that I continued to grow as an educator at every step of my training.
CPR Certification
Selft-Care Workshop
I am sharing the certificate from the Mental Health First Aid workshop for adults in which I participated as a guest to promote my professional and personal development during the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.
With this evidence, I demonstrate my full command of various skills integral to this competence. Specifically, I can demonstrate that thanks to this workshop, I was able to reflect on the responsibility one must bear professionally, not only in the classroom with my students but also with other individuals who are part of the school environment. Through this experience, I have reflected on my ability to identify potential cases of individuals in need of mental health first aid.
To illustrate how this evidence relates to competence, it's crucial to highlight the significant learning gained during this workshop, which opened my mind to aspects that are often overlooked. Mental health is a critical issue, particularly among the population we interact with in this profession. Teachers are often the first to notice when something is amiss with one of our students, whether related to issues inside or outside the classroom. Therefore, participating in this workshop and learning about the various warning signs to consider allows us to take a broader perspective on everything happening around us.
Our professional reflection of the mastery of professional competences was based on the group discussion of each of them, as set out on the academic competencies page. The competition text 10 Professional development and performance was developed by future teachers: Kiarelis Sierra, Julian Deleon Miranda, Karla Ayala.
To master this competition we must be able to reflect on our professional responsibilities, assess the effect of our decisions and actions on other members of the school community and actively seek our professional growth. On the other hand, we must show responsibility for the academic requirements of practicing in the magisterial field. With this too, self-management our learning.
Means actively looking for how to improve professionally. It enables us to reflect on how our actions affect the school community and be prepared to change to improve professionally. It helps us not to repeat errors that detrimentally affect our license plate. We must learn with our students.
In 2019 I participated in the Youth of the Year competition to represent my community at the island level before the other Clubhouses of the Boys and Girls Club. This competition helped to develop my ability to speak to other people in a correct way and that they could empathize with me. So for this one too, I created my personal folder where I kept all the tests that were asked of me and the activities that I was doing to prepare. Between these a reflection on My Vision for Youth and My Personal Brand that I can present as evidence for this competition. This as a sign of personal growth, while participating in competitions in which I had to present the projects we carry out annually.
These competencies that were carried finished at the Youth Leadership Summit, they are a sample of professional growth since they helped me develop by more for three consecutive years. This was like a type of youth retreat where the young people would fellowship for three days and they would bring us cards, we did dynamics and finally we presented our projects. Moments in which I was letting go again and improving my way of expressing myself to my peers and older people when answering the questions of the jury.
As a result of these experiences, I can present mastery of this competition. Without embargo As I continue with my studies, I will generate more personal and professional development. Above all, when it comes time for me to exercise because this is where we demonstrated all the performance and mastery that I have up to that moment.
