Competency 7:
Integration of Educational and Emerging Technologies
Competency 7:
Integration of Educational and Emerging Technologies
“Technology will not replace great teachers but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational.”
— George Couros.
Integration of emerging educational technologies:
The student teacher integrates emerging educational technologies into their classroom practices to support and enrich teaching, meaningful learning, and authentic assessment as well as to promote communication, collaboration, and research. and creation.
During my teaching practice, I integrated various emerging educational technologies into my lessons to enhance teaching, promote meaningful learning, and facilitate authentic assessments. These tools not only supported the teaching process but also motivated my students, fostering collaboration and communication.
For instance, I used Google Classroom to assign and collect assignments when students were unable to attend class, ensuring they had access to materials and could continue learning effectively. Additionally, for group projects, students were required to prepare a brief oral presentation to share their learning with their peers, integrating both technological and communication skills. I also incorporated platforms such as Kahoot, Wordwall, and Blooket into review and assessment activities, making learning dynamic and interactive. These tools not only assessed students’ progress but also kept their interest and engagement through a playful and competitive approach.
By integrating these technologies, I was able to encourage active student participation in their learning, strengthen their digital skills, and help them view technology as a powerful tool for research, collaboration, and creation. This reflected my commitment to using innovative resources to support their academic and personal development.

To demonstrate mastery of this seventh competency, Educational and Emerging Technologies, I am sharing two presentations I created for two of my youth groups during my role as a group facilitator, in February and March 2024.
With this evidence, I demonstrate my full command of various skills integral to this competence. Firstly, I showcase the ability to integrate technology when introducing new topics to the students. This group of young people participates in sessions with the aim of competing at both the island and international levels. To ensure their understanding, motivation, and early preparation, I began utilizing technology to create presentations and incorporate activities requested by the module in a different manner. Through these presentations, students were tasked with reading, analyzing various subtopics, and independently researching whether they could utilize additional tools to aid their understanding, depending on their perceived benefits.
To illustrate the relevance of this evidence to the competence, it's important to highlight the significant learning acquired during the implementation of these presentations. The positive response from the students and their genuine engagement in constructing the foundation for their essays and speeches, prerequisites for the competition, were notable outcomes. This experience underscored the diverse methods available to stimulate student involvement in activities contributing to their personal and professional development. It serves as a reminder that as educators, we possess a capacity not to be underestimated in guiding students towards realizing their maximum potential.
Our professional reflection of the mastery of professional competences was based on the group discussion of each of them, as set out on the academic competencies page. The competition text 7 Integration of educational technologies was developed by future teachers: Jettif M. Verdejo Rodriguez, Adrianis P. Clemente Rivera, José G. Betancourt Santiago.
To dominate the competition we must be able to integrate new technologies to increase and facilitate the teaching-learning process in the classroom. By doing so we will help our students obtain "integral" or complete teaching. This promotes our collaborative and interdisciplinary work. On the other hand, we will be able to develop critical thinking and authentic learning in our students.
If a teacher does not master technologies, he would be somewhat delaying the teaching process. Similarly, it would be in breach of the needs of the students. Because I couldn't provide them with a successful education that complements learning and understanding. For example, a teacher who only projects a presentation to his students and students can't read delays the learning process because he wouldn't be giving them photocopies to help. In this way, it is clear that instructional technology helps to understand the needs of the student in the classroom. With the introduction of new concepts and changes that facilitate your understanding in the classroom ensuring a good understanding.
To show that I have dominance in this competition, I can present evidence from the YouTube channel that created with two colleagues for La Voz de Llorens. In this channel we uploaded two short films that we made in 2016 and 2017 about our community and a third one made by girls and young people about harassment and violence in 2018. During the recording process for the second video called 'We are Llorens 'I realized how difficult it is to work with technology. This it is complicated since many factors must be considered, but even so, if things work with calm and determination, good results are obtained as were these short films.
Despite this experience, I admit that I do not have a good command of technology, since with this process of online classes I have been able to realize it. It is more complicated than it seems and even if you master certain basic areas such as using a computer, making a video for a YouTube channel, this will not help me much when it comes to exercising. So, I hope that the Integration of technology and the use of the computer in the elementary level curriculum will take more ahead in college. This hoping you can help me develop this skill, by way of that I can meet my future students.
