Mathematics

Studying Mathematics is a compulsory part of the Year 10 and 11 programme at Uplands. The course encourages the development of mathematical knowledge as a key life skill, and as a strong basis for more advanced study.

The majority of students will complete IGCSE Mathematics Extended at the end of Year 11. Some more capable and passionate mathematicians, will take their IGCSE Mathematics Extended exam at the end of Year 10 and, then the IGCSE Additional Mathematics exam at the end of Year 11. We also offer IGCSE Mathematics Core if needed, to support students to achieve greater success. All options provide a suitable pathway to study Mathematics at IBDP.

Placement into mathematics classes will be determined by the Head of Mathematics based on a wide range of assessment data.
