In the Philippines, the colonial mentality is the primary reason why people favor foreign imported goods. It also leads to duplication and the destruction of the Philippine economy. Most people who favor other nationalities believe that they will be more successful if they are foreigners since they see other countries improving and expanding and this is how colonialism brainwashes the Filipino psyche. Because more people like foreign nations, they would choose imported goods over locally produced goods. And because there is a larger demand for imported items, it will have an impact on the Philippine economy because it will be more expensive to import these foreign goods compared to locally produced products in the nation. Besides, since many people prefer imported goods over local goods, it bankrupts local businesses. The expense of importing foreign goods exceeds the money generated by selling local goods which drags the economy down.
