OVERVIEW OF THE SPECIALTY NURSING UNITS
in the 6TH FLOOR
The Renal Unit specializes in the care and treatment of patients with kidney-related conditions, such as chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and end-stage renal disease; and critically ill patients that requires renal support. Nurses in this unit are trained to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing hemodialysis and other Renal Replacement Therapies that includes Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Hemodialysis, Hemofiltration, Hemodiafiltration, and Hemoperfusion, or combination thereof.
The Transplant Unit is a specialized nursing unit that focuses on providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing solid organ transplantation, primarily the kidneys. This unit provides wide array of services from the screening of patients and donors, facilitation and coordination
The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory is where diagnostic and interventional procedures for heart conditions are performed, including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and stent placement. Nurses from this unit assist Interventional Cardiologists during procedures, provide pre-procedure education and preparation to patients, and ensure post-procedure monitoring and care.
The Cardiovascular Unit is a specialty nursing unit dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients with cardiovascular conditions. It plays a crucial role in the management and treatment of various cardiac disorders, including heart failure, myocardial infarction (heart attack), arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and other cardiac-related ailments.
This unit is dedicated to providing surgical interventions for thoracic and vascular conditions, including procedures such as thoracotomy, lobectomy, vascular bypass surgery, and repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms. Assigned nurses in this operating room assist surgeons during procedures, ensuring patient safety, monitoring vital signs, and providing post-operative care. The TCVS PACU is where patients recover immediately after undergoing surgery or procedures requiring maintenance of or weaning from anesthesia. Nursing staff in this unit closely monitor patients' vital signs, manage pain, and assess for any complications as patients regain consciousness and stabilize post-operatively. This unit specializes in the care of patients with cardiovascular conditions, such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and other cardiac disorders that requires constant monitoring and intesive care approach.
