IO1 - IIBMS: Interdisciplinary Intersectoral Blended Mobility Scheme
IIBMS is coordinated by University of Trento
Creating a collaboration scheme encompassing collaboration and implementation logics, curricula design, administrative and management procedures to facilitate collaboration and for the further implementation and exploitation of the scheme education
This intellectual output (IO) envisions the design and development of an Interdisciplinary-Intersectoral-Blended-Mobility-Scheme (IIBMS) which constitutes the main project result in order to guide its further systematic exploitation at the EU level. The IO aims to provide guidance at different exploitation levels:
a) guiding the current partnership and its extension after the EU funding inenlarging the current implementation;
b) feeding other networks (such as the EIT KICs) and partnerships to elaborate and contextualize their own implementation;
c) feeding policymakers at different levels, to reflect on the opportunity to extend existing mobility schemes based on the logic and experience of the IIBMS. On this last point, the project will put a specific focus in promoting the IIBMS as a contribution to:
- the ongoing evolution of the Erasmus+ programs along their review, in view of their extension to new mobility domains and dimensions in the forthcoming work program;
- the design of novel interdisciplinary modules, relying on the successful experience of the partners in designing and implementing an Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor in EIT Digital;
- the reflection on the possibility to foster systematical interdisciplinary double/joint degrees, where students can receive two degrees in different scientific fields;
- the ongoing EIT reflection on cross-KIC collaboration, for which the IIBMS could represent an effective experience to foster master level interdisciplinary education, also relying on the strong blending capacity of the EIT networks.
The IO1 includes:
IO1.1-IIBMS logic description (IIBMS-LD): this will include the specification of the IIBMS vision, goals, motivation, rationale, design and implementation principles. The aim is to generalize its fundamental logics in order to facilitate its development and evolution in different contexts (e.g. other networks) and adoption levels (e.g. policy levels). The logic description constitutes the foundation in order to trigger the design of new initiatives and instruments based on the experience of the IIBMS.
IO1.2-IIBMS intended learning outcomes (IIBMS-ILOs): this will include the specific description of the ILOs both specific (related to current implementation) and general (related to future IIBMS extensions). They will be articulated at both at 1) content and 2) meta level. The first refers to technical skills that are intended to be achieved by participants; the second to abilities and mindsets related to the ability to approach practical and theoretical problem solving adopting an interdisciplinary and intersectoral approach.
IO1.3-IIBMS paths design (IIBMS-PD): these will include the concrete guidelines to combine and build, on top of existing programs (e.g erasmus+ programs) and activities (e.g. blending contents, tools and methods) to develop interdisciplinary/intersectoral/blended curricula as well as participants selection and engagement methods;
IO1.4-IIBMS monitoring and assessment guidelines (IIBMS-MA): indicators and related methods to monitor and assess the effectiveness and the efficiency of the current as well as future implementations of the IIBMS. They are outlined to both measure performance of the process (how the IIBMS is carried) and results (what the IIBMS achieved). They will be characterized by a bidimensional approach, considering both the quality of the IIBMS, and the fluidity of its operations.
IO1.5-IIBMS exploitation opportunities through its extension or addressing other HE networks (IIBMS-EO): this will include the identification of potential opportunities to both extend the current IIBMS to other HEIs, and to other networks also operating in different scientific domains. In this respect a particular attention will be devoted to the EIT KICs and their reflection on cross-KIC collaborations.
IO1.6-IIBMS education management/administration guidelines (IIBMS-EMA): these include practical indications on how to provide a sound management of the IIBMS (participants’ selection, enrolment, follow-up, etc) and its administration (pre-approved ECTS recognition, enrolment requisites, financial management, etc.);
IO1.7-IIBMS policy recommendations (IIBMS-PR): this will include the foresight of policy opportunities for the further deployment of the IIBMS at different policy levels as well as different sub-policy domains (e.g modernization agendas, novel mobility schemes, double and joint degrees with full major discipline/minor off discipline integration, EIT Strategic and Innovation Agenda). For each of these opportunities, an evolutionary scenario will be outlined recommending policy makers on how the IIBMS can feed into their respective policy agendas.
IO1.8-IIBMS-SWOT analysis: this will include the assessment of the general lessons learned throughout the piloting of the IIBMS, outlining points of weakness and strength, as well as the identification of both the opportunities and the possible threats to its further extension and implementation.
