IO2 - FILM: Framework Interdisciplinary Learning Modules development
FILM is coordinated by KTH Royal Institute of Technology
Development and dissemination of 12 interdisciplinary modules including syllabi, contents, teaching and evaluation methods as well as guidelines for the future development of additional modules.
This intellectual output (IO) envisions the development of a framework to guide and structure the delivery of reusable interdisciplinary learning modules in the selected off-disciplines. These are:
a) energy transition and digitalization/energy and climate (EC: Energy-Climate); b) socioeconomic/innovation and entrepreneurship (SE: Socio-Economic). With this IO, the FILM will be instantiated in 12 concrete modules. Each HEI is expected to be involved in two offdisciplinary pathway (EC-SE), each of these pathways foresees the delivery of 6 Interdisciplinary Learning Modules (ILMs). By means of blending methods and tools, these modules will be also made available, when needed, to each participating HEI. The selection of the 12 ILMs will be based on a three dimensional analysis considering: a) effectiveness of the ILM in the context of the EC-SE pathways learning outcomes (LOs);
b) availability of existing learning modules that, through upgrading and updating activities, can be transformed in an ILM; c) availability of existing blended contents, methods and tools for their exploitation within and beyond the existing partnership.
The FILM will be designed and developed in order to be reused both for the delivery of new modules in the selected off-disciplines as well as for the development of modules in new offdisciplines. This goal will provide a strong boost to the exploitation and extension of the project results after the EU funding, both enlarging the partnership and addressing new HEI networks.
In particular the FILM comprises the following components:
IO2.1-Learning objectives definition and assessment criteria for ILM. The former will include the skills and competences to be achieved both at the content and meta-level in each module. The latter will include the evaluation criteria (at the entrance, mid-delivery, ending and follow-up stages of the ILM).
IO2.2-Syllabus design principles and structure, both for trainers as a guideline for the module delivery, and to students to engage in the ILM from pre-assignments to follow-ups.
IO2.3-Pedagogical methods to be applied in the delivery of each ILM, including teaching methods, participation policies, use of tools and supports, methods of engagement.
IO2.4-Module interaction with other learning modules, with a focus on : a) their interaction with existing disciplinary modules; b) their interaction with other learning activities, specifically intersectoral ones.
IO2.5-Stock taking of existing off-line and blended contents, methods and tools in order to facilitate a feedback loop between the new ILM and the contributing learning modules, also stimulating the development of new interdisciplinary educational contents and activities.
IO2.6-Administrative and management issues related to the implementation of the ILM within existing HEI and disciplinary curricula, in order to facilitate transparency and mutual recognition of both curricula and extra-curricula activities.
IO2.7-Guidelines for the development of future ILMs, in order to maximize the impact and transferability of the IIBMS within and across new disciplines.
