Animal Facility - Excellence in Preclinical Research
The Animal Facility is a state-of-the-art facility for preclinical research on animal models, specializing in neurological, oncological, hematological, inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases.
Our team of highly qualified researchers and technicians has a proven track record in biomedical research, operating in compliance with European legislation (2010/63/EU), ensuring high scientific standards and continuous innovation.
Technology and Structure
The Centralized Laboratory for Preclinical Research (LARP) covers 800 square meters and is designed for maximum safety, high animal welfare and scientific quality:
Advanced facilities: video surveillance, environmental control, aeration system, centralized supply of technical gases.
SPF environment with constant health monitoring (FELASA panel).
BSL2 areas for rodent experiments (mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits).
BSL3 area for studies with class 3 microbiological agents (SARS-CoV-2, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis).
Research Services.
We provide breeding space and laboratories equipped for ex vivo and in vivo experimentation, offering customized solutions for companies and research center.
Dedicated laboratories:
Pharmacology and cell biology.
Stereotactic surgery and microsurgery.
In vivo imaging (Bioluminescence/Fluorescence).
Nuclear imaging and computed tomography (LINC).
Phenotyping and behavioral studies: soundproof rooms for behavioral testing (nociception, motor performance, anxiety, depression, memory and learning); video recording systems and electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring.
Brain microdialysis: assessment of extracellular levels of neurotransmitters (dopamine, acetylcholine, glutamate, GABA) in specific brain areas in freely-moving animals.
In collaboration with other LTTA services, we also offer:
Molecular analyses (quantitative PCR, transcriptomics, proteomics).
Histological analyses (immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence).
Neurotransmitter assay on biological samples.
Strategic know-how for the development of new therapies.
Preclinical in vivo studies are an essential step in the validation of new advanced therapies. The Animal Facility can support the evaluation of drugs, cell therapies, and gene therapies, both in vitro/ex vivo (primary, organotypic cultures) and in vivo, with intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intravenous, intracerebroventricular, and intraparenchymal administrations.
With advanced technologies and multidisciplinary expertise, we offer comprehensive support for biomedical research, accelerating therapeutic innovation and ensuring reliable results.
