College Of Computer Studies

In line with the goals of the university, The UNC College of Computer Studies keeps a learning environment that transforms students into competent information technology professionals. Not only do we have excellent programs, but we also back these up with competent faculty and great facilities.

In 2015, AC Education, the education arm of the Ayala Group, invested in University of Nueva Caceres.

This helps the university, especially departments like the College of Information of Technology, to undertake technology-driven innovations to further enhance the quality of programs and the employability of the graduates. In turn, students achieve a high-quality education, which is comparable to what they would obtain from Manila-based universities, at a price range acceptable to many in the region.

Our College of Information Technology offers two undergraduate programs that nurture the dreams of the Bicolano youth:

BACHELOR OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

The BLIS Program is the study of the development, deployments, management of information resources in print, non-print, electronic, and digital formats and services. Graduates of this program are being prepared to apply information technology to basic library operations and functions. Moreover, they are trained to harness a range of bibliographical and online tools to support teaching, research, and other services. Graduates of this program are likewise expected to systematically organize, conserve, preserve and restore information objects, historical and cultural documents, and other intellectual properties.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The BSIT program equips students with the technical knowledge and skills needed to develop, install, operate, maintain, and administer computer applications. The program also gears students towards becoming IT experts who can assist organizations in solving operational problems using information technology techniques.

The program includes courses on software applications, intranet and internet, and specialized professional software, office support, as well as mathematical and computing principles. The teaching methods used for this program include classroom discussions, computer laboratory work, practicum exercises, and internships.

BSIT graduates have various career opportunities, including jobs as application developers, technical support specialists, web administrators, web developers, and network engineers.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

The BS Computer Science program includes the study of computing concepts and theories, algorithmic foundations and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software and develop new and effective

algorithms for solving computing problems. The program also includes the study of the standards and practices in Software Engineering. IT prepares students to acquire skills and disciplines required for designing, writing and modifying software components, modules and applications that comprises software solutions.
