SDP 1 Project Proposal Seminar

  • Students are required to present their project proposals to the evaluation panels during SDP 1 Project Proposal Seminar in week 12 of SDP 1 course.

  • SDP Coordinator distributes the SDP supervisors into assessment committees to evaluate SDP 1 students in group.

  • Each assessment committee consists of three panels including the committee leader.

  • Each assessment committee will evaluate up to FIVE SDP project proposals according to the presentation slots and seminar tentative shared by the coordinator.

  • Proposal Presentation time per each project is 15 min presentation + 15 min Q&A

  • All students members of project group must participate during presentation to the panel

  • Presentation assessment will be online using Google Form based on the listed rubrics (link will be shared by the coordinator).

  • Students must consider panels comments and discuss with their supervisors to improve their proposals before continue their SDP 2.

  • Students who fail to defend their proposals are required to represent again in the following week after discussion with their supervisors and SDP Coordinator.

SDP 1 Project Proposal Report

Students are required to use UMP Thesis Template to prepare their SDP 1 Project Report (Group) to be submitted towards the end of SDP 1. The SDP 1 Project Report represents the project proposal and will be expanded during SDP 2 to Project Final Report (Thesis). Students should update Project Report in group and all group members must contribute to the report. Supervisors are responsible to ensure fairness in tasks distributions among all project group members. Students are required to present their project proposal to be evaluated the appointed Evaluation Panel during SDP1 Seminar. The final SDP 1 Project Proposal Report must be submitted to supervisor at the end of the SDP1. The project report should cover at least three chapters (You may add more chapters if necessary) with the following components:

  • Chapter 1 - Introduction. This chapter should contains the following items

    • Project background

    • Problem statement

    • Objectives

    • Research Scope

    • Report Organisation

  • Chapter 2 - Literature Review ( Must include a detailed background and related works)

  • Chapter 3 - Research Methodology (Must include methodology flowchart in addition to research activities such as design, components/materials selection ( pricing), Modelling, Simulations, ...etc.)

  • Chapter 4 - Expected Results/Outcomes

  • List of References (Students are recommended to use reference indexing tool such as EndNote or Mendeley)

  • Gantt Chart
