You probably know the WBI mentorship program. Last year it ran with the invaluable support and facilitation of the Law Council. Based on feedback, this year, we are starting our mentorship program early! We’re hoping that by starting the program before classes start, new students will be able to come in already having built some connections. If you’re interested in serving as a mentor, please sign up here!
The deadline to be matched up before school starts is July 5th at 5pm, so mark your calendars!
For more awesome stuff delivered straight into your inbox, sign up for the WBI newsletter.
Our (at most) weekly newsletters are not only informative and helpful, they’re also fun and interesting! We send songs of the week, invite people to events in the Twin Cities, and are starting a “Happy Lawyer” segment where we interview alumni and local lawyers to get their advice to share with you.
What WBI is and why you should care about us:
We care about you!
We run programs and events, connect students with resources, and act as support to make your ideas happen!
We create and maintain awesome resources centered on your wellbeing, including a fun and interesting newsletter.
We’re constantly updating this list of resources on our website, and there’s a really big collaboration in the works that is going to blow. your. minds.
Other things in the works: Happiness Class (interest form below) and movie night (tonight!).
We build community, which is part of what makes UMN Law what it is. The best part of the community is all the people that get involved. So please, come get involved!
Student orgs do not typically function during the summer, and, while we are planning to start back up formally in the fall, we have some ideas for the summer as well. To get involved in planning or to bring up ideas, email us!
Happiness Class
WBI will host groups doing “The Happiness Class.” Laurie Santos, the creator of the Yale “Science of Well-Being” course, gave us consent to run in-person sessions discussing each week’s materials. The course runs 10 weeks and is intended to help increase overall happiness, well-being, and gratefulness.
If you’re interested in attending the class or helping lead a group, sign up here!
Sara, Sarani, and Emily are planning to go to this event (Avengers: End Game) on June 14 at 8:30pm at Beltrami Park. If anyone wants to come hang out, please do! If you let us know you’re coming, we’ll hold you a spot!
