"A Mile in My Slippers" is an interactive exhibit based on the London Empathy Museum. For one week we will set up a table each day during the lunch hour where students can come check out an MP3 player with an anonymous real-life story/experience recording and that person's respective "shoes" (slippers, in our case) that have been decorated by that individual. Students would walk in those slippers as they listen to the stories. It's a great way to connect to our peers in the law school community and also gain a different perspective.
We are seeking individuals that would either 1) submit a recording, or alternatively, a text for a recording, or 2) volunteer to read someone else's text for a recording if they would rather not have their voice associated with their submission.
All recordings will remain anonymous, but those that submit their stories for recording would receive a pair of slippers to decorate that reflects their personality. The recordings should stay between 5 and 15 minutes, and come with a title. During the exhibit, the title will be displayed with each pair of slippers and tagged with potential triggers.
We encourage any and all walks of life to submit! The tone need not be serious but it can be--it can also be silly, fun, or unrelated to law school whatsoever. Some examples of prompts/ideas include:
