The stress lawyers and law students face is a predictor for depression, and untreated depression is the #1 predictor for suicide. Lawyers may also work with clients that are suicidal. This training will help you understand the facts and myths about suicide, recognize signs and indicators for clinical depression, anxiety, and suicide, and provide resources and a protocol for offering and seeking help to prevent suicide.
The Zen Lawyer: Winning with Mindfulness

LTAG, WBI, and the Mental Health Committee present: The Zen Lawyer with Michael Leizerman. Michael Leizerman is a practicing litigator and author of The Zen Lawyer: Winning with Mindfulness. During the lunch session, Mr. Leizerman will speak about mindfulness, how it can help us become better lawyers and how we as law students can begin implementing it into our lives now. Mr. Leizerman is a highly sought-after speaker who has taught lawyers trial strategy at over 100 conferences across the country. He will also hold two afternoon workshops, during which he will work with students to practice these techniques in trial and in your life. The workshops will have different content and are designed so you can attend either or both. No RSVP is necessary for the workshops and all are welcome!
