Talking Points for Explaining Handshake to Students

1. Recruiters are specifically looking for early and transitioning talent - even though it can look like another big job board like indeed or linkedin, all the recruiters on there are looking for entry level candidates and they’re eager to network. 

2. Handshake is much more than a job board - it's great for career research, company research, and building connections. 

3. Be proactive and reach out to employers and other students. Handshake is designed to facilitate networking as much as possible for students. It’s an especially unique resource for peer to peer connection. 

4. Encourage students to fill out their career interests - this, along with their major which is automatically imported, and their activity on Handshake, will create a revelant, personalized job feed that gets more accurate the more they engage with jobs and employers.

5. Share analytics with students - quickly access analytics via Dashboards in Handshake or the UMN's Handshake data dashboard.

6. Take a look at the Handshake at UMN newsletter sent out monthly to the CDN and AAN listservs. It includes content to share with students, Handshake data, and platform updates.
