Labels are tags you apply to data stored in Handshake that helps classify, organize, and report on that data. To learn more about labels, see Handshake’s Guide to Using Labels.
There are shared labels we use across campuses, and career centers are encouraged to create their own labels to track student and employer engagement and help with reporting:
Naming convention: for labels specific to your career center, include the acronym of your office, college, or campus. Ex. ‘csom - mis majors sp 21’ or ‘cla-hubbard-employer’
Many offices use student labels to track cohorts, graduate students, and OCI applicants.
Additionally, all students are given a system label to denote their college. This is a label that can only be added by OIT and is automatically applied to a student’s Handshake account. Student’s in multiple colleges will only receive the label of their primary college:

If you have a label that applies to many student or employer accounts a mass label can be added. The label can either be a normal or public label.
Option 1: If you will infrequently use the mass upload feature, you can send your requests to Career Services Administration (handshake@umn.edu). Follow the formatting guide in the Importing Labels Handshake article to create your CSV and save it according to these specific instructions. Once you have created your CSV file email CSA.
Option 2: If you will frequently be mass uploading labels, you can gain access to Handshake’s Importer tool so you can process these mass uploads on your own. To do so:
Complete Handshake’s Importer training
Then put in a ticket to Handshake support requesting access to the Importer Tool. Include Becky Hall on the ticket, as she will need to sign off on your access.
