Getting IT Help

For the best possible response time send your request directly to cemshelp@umn.edu. Please do not forward or cc to this email. Replies to your initial email from other users will create a new ticket rather than adding to the existing ticket. If others need to be added as contacts please include that information in the request and we will add them manually. Requests sent to cemshelp@umn.edu will notify all IT staff.

You can also call the IT Office phone at 612-626-0712. If no one is available to answer please leave a message and someone will return your call.

Remote Access

A lot of IT services required the UMN VPN to be accessed. For example:

Guides for remote access:

Remote Desktop to a UMN computer

Connecting to a UMN file share

VPN:
To access the CEMS Intranet site when off campus you will need to connect to VPN (you can download it based on your operating system). Connect via “split tunnel.” You will use this option when working off campus. https://it.umn.edu/services-technologies/virtual-private-network-vpn

Duo:

Before you can access the CEMS Intranet (go to the CEMS homepage and scroll to the bottom of the website) you will need to be added to the CEMS Personnel database.
