Terms and conditions are legal terminology contained in an award notice that control various aspects of performance of the University and the sponsor and may include things like:
Budget Restrictions
Reporting Requirements
Identification of Key Personnel / Effort Requirements
Publication policies or restrictions
Cost-sharing commitments
E-verification requirements
Sponsor rules
Federal-Wide Research Terms and Conditions (RTCs) impact all federal agencies and allow certain changes to be made without prior sponsor approval. In addition to the basic provisions under RTC each federal agency has a supplemental set of agency specific terms and conditions. A typical federal grant is covered by both the federal-wide Research Terms and Condition and the agency-specific terms and conditions.
Sponsor policies vary and individual awards may have specific conditions that must be met. Each grant and contract must be reviewed carefully to determine what policies and requirements apply.
