Our Mission: Montgomery County Master Gardeners (MCMG) are dedicated to educating residents about safe, effective and sustainable horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities.

We are trained volunteers of the University of Maryland Extension Environment & Natural Resources (ENR) program. The ENR program is designed to strengthen and improve individual’s knowledge, skills and aspirations to make changes in their lives and the lives of others that positively affect the economy, the environment and the associated natural resources for current and future generations.

Montgomery County Master Gardeners offer free advice to residents on a very wide range of garden questions. For example, we can help novice vegetable growers, residents from another state on our different soil and climate, advise on sorting out heirloom plants and invasive weeds in an inherited old garden, and compare notes with computer-literate and experienced gardeners. Whatever your gardening problem is, Master Gardeners are here to assist you at no cost.

You can bring a sample of your plant or insect for identification or diagnosis to one of our In-person Plant Clinics, Community Events, or Urban Gardening events and one of our Master Gardeners would be happy to help

We also host Hands On Education programs throughout the County, support the Baywise program in our County, host Major Education Events, and can provide your club, school, or other organization with a Master Gardener presented from our Speakers Bureau.
