Regularly scheduled plant clinics are located throughout Montgomery County Spring through Fall.

bring your plant, a stem with leaves and/or flowers, or insect sample to one of our plant clinics. At the clinic, provide us with information about sun and shade, slopes, and available moisture. This will make it easier for us to provide you with a diagnosis of your gardening problem.
volunteers at our plant clinics can provide you with free information on how to start plants from seeds, or test and prepare your soil, and how to plan your garden, select the best plants and manage pests. We provide advice for environmentally sustainable landscapes that contribute to wildlife habitat and reduce pollution of our waterways.

The Urban Gardening initiative has been in partnership with Fresh Farms Market in downtown Silver Spring since 2015. Our Urban Gardening group can help you with gardening at your home or apartment balcony. We host Demonstration Workshops at the Silver Spring Fresh Farm Market the first Saturday of each month from May through November. The booth is located on Ellsworth Drive in Veterans Plaza - near the Civic Center.
Many of our visitors leave with a free give away item - such as bulbs to plant, a houseplant to care for, herbs or micro-greens to grow, or a hanging pot for a plant.
You may submit your yard and garden-related questions to University of Maryland's Home and Garden Information Center Ask Extension (photos can be included with your submission) and someone will get back to you within 2 – 3 business days. You may also find answers to your questions at their Home and Garden Information Center website.
