Aside from being a Senator both previously in a virtual and in-person environment, I am involved in student organizations such as BSU and their Black Lives Matter organization, a Humanities Scholar, as well having served as the Co-Director for the Communications department of University System Maryland Student Council. Through SGA I have also been able to strengthen relationships between the student body and the Senate organization by hosting more student based initiatives and being active in participating in various student organizational activities. I will be transparent, goal oriented, and passionate in making sure that the UMBC community is growing stronger, and will utilize the connections and resources available to create initiatives that represent our student body and will enhance our experience both on and off campus. Through SGA, I alongside previous Senators have made it a goal to strengthen the relationships within our student body and with government organizations. UMBC is already such a thriving community, and I will help to strengthen that bond and make sure all students feel at home no matter where they come from.
I intend to be transparent, goal oriented, and passionate in making sure that the UMBC community is growing stronger, and will utilize the connections and resources available to create initiatives that represent our student body and will enhance our experience both on and off campus. Alongside other Senators I will collaborate and be creative to make sure that UMBC is continuing to grow and be the best it can be. In addressing conflict I am open to criticism and will strive to find a solution that will aid all parties. An organization cannot flourish without open and honest dialogue on how we can improve.
As an out of state student, one of the biggest obstacles I experienced was feeling at home and accepted at UMBC. From speaking to other students this is a recurring concern. What I hope for UMBC and our student body is that in addition to creating an inviting and familial environment, that out of state students will feel connected and present and heard. Through SGA, I alongside previous Senators have made it a goal to strengthen the relationships within our student body and with government organizations. UMBC is already such a thriving community, and I will help to strengthen that bond and make sure all students feel at home no matter where they come from.
I plan to facilitate communications in an approachable and transparent manner. Not all students are aware of how SGA operates or what they can bring up as concerns. I will make sure that as a Senator, these hesitations will be eliminated, and I will encourage students to voice their concerns openly and passionately without fear of judgement or being ignored. If elected as a Senator I will make sure all student voices are heard and respected and will do my best to assist and help solve any concerns or questions.
