I am currently an SGA Officer servicing as a Senate representative and have served as VP for Leadership for the PTK Chapter at CCBC Catonsville, as well as VP for Public Relations at the Sigma Alpha Lambda Honors Society here at UMBC
I feel like one's greatest strength doesn't rely solely on oneself but n working wit others. Engaging in collaborations and team work is a great way to build bonds with other members and improve the working environment. In my role as an officer, I believe that respecting others points of view and what they have to offer is also very important. The best way to address conflict would be to go to the root of the problem and try to sit down and talk the other party to se how we can come out with a consensus. When conflict arise I believe that it's best to take a breather and then discuss it over rather that hold it in and bear a grudge against others.
My vision it to make UMBC feel more a a second home for its students rather than just an institution. I hope for students to have a pleasant and memorizable experience while here at UMBC.
I believe that in any structure, where it be that of leadership or just community gathering, communication plays a big part in smooth transition and greater work output. I believe that reaching out to someone who you are odds with and trying to find a middle ground is better than bringing the problem to the table before having a private conversation. Also, being conscience of the way in which we speak to others is another way to improve communication with others.
