for Finance Board Representative

What relevant experience would you bring to the position you are seeking?

I have been involved on campus in various organizations, ResLife, and the New Student Success team. Previously, I was the treasurer of the Pre-Veterinary Society where I went through the process of treasurer training, submitting budgets, and acting as a liaison between club leadership, club members, and the SGA team. Being a treasurer showed me the perspective of being a club leader looking for funding, and I now would like to be a Finance Board Representative to help other clubs and organizations on campus to get funding to create an active, vibrant UMBC community.

How do you intend on fulfilling your role while working alongside other members of SGA? What strategies do you use to address conflict?

I intend on fulfilling the role of Finance Board Representative while working alongside other members of SGA by working together collaboratively in order to serve the UMBC community. Most importantly, I plan on respecting all members of SGA and working towards compromising when conflicts address in order to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.

What is your vision for the funds that SGA has available to allocate to student organizations?

My vision for the funds that SGA has to allocate to student organizations is to ensure that all student organizations feel heard in the process of budget allocation. I plan on making sure that every organization that I represent gets the funding that they need to plan events throughout the year.

What do you think the Finance Board has done well? What do you think the Finance Board needs to improve?

I think that the finance board has done a great job on making sure that treasurers are well trained and are very familiar with the process. However, I believe that they could improve in their transparency with all members of the UMBC community such as other club leaders, club members, and the general UMBC population, which is an issue I plan on addressing as a representative.
